The Bare Necessities of Quality Management Software: 5 Lessons from the Jungle Book

Written by Emily Ysaguirre | Fri, Nov 10, 2017

There are many life lessons taught in The Jungle Book. Some of my favorite quotes from the book that can be applied to Quality Management Software are:

1. “For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.”

In other words, you’ll go further together than you will alone. Employees are a fundamental part of any business. They are the backbone of an organization, and must be equipped with the specific tools to keep them skilled and up to date on all processes and procedures. Employee Training tools allow companies to maintain order while keeping all necessary individuals in control of a constantly evolving environment and knowledgeable on what changes are to come and what parties should be involved.

2. “Mark my trail.”

Audits. Audits. Audits. Failing to plan is planning to fail. Audit Management software allows users to set up audit plans quickly and efficiently from the start, building a roadmap from the beginning with questions and checklists to ensure all challenges and changes are being tracked and controlled. This ensures users are aware of the system’s processes and procedures and that everything is recorded and prepared for in the event of surprise inspections.

3. Don’t spend your time looking around for something you want but can’t find.”

Let Document Control do it for you. Document Control allows users to track all documents and processes regardless of type. Its ability does not stop at that, as it enables an organization to build an effective platform for communication and collaboration. It’s a consistent method to enable continuous improvement and provides companies with the tools needed to do so.

4. “When you find out you can live without it, go along not thinking about it.”

Set it and forget it. Mobile is a thing of the present and we should take advantage of it. With a mobile platform, quality is no longer limited to four walls. It can be brought on the go. Users can review and approve documents on their mobile device online or offline as well as route records, make comments and approve changes. Administrators can take existing forms and modules and make them compatible for devices so they can sync forms without skipping a beat.

5.You have never been a more endangered species than you are in this moment.”

This one’s a joke! However, as the professionals say—"if you don’t wake up every day thinking about ways to improve, someone else is going to do it for you.” Risk Management, however, is not a joke. It is important to take control over risks to ensure that everything possible is being done to avoid adverse events. Risk Management tools allow companies to set controls over threat levels while leveraging best practices and taking the most effective steps possible toward operational excellence.

“So, Mowgli went away and hunted with the four cubs in the jungle from that day. But he was not always alone, because years afterward he became a man and married. But that is a story for grown-ups.”

I’m not sure how Rudyard Kipling would have written the story for grownups, but this is the tale I’d like to tell!
